What I help with

Stress & Emotional Regulation therapy for steadier days

If pressure, reactivity, or constant strain is making it hard to feel settled, I offer a place to slow that down and look at it clearly. We can work on what happens before things build, while they are building, and after they spill over.

What people bring me

People often come in feeling keyed up, drained, or like their emotions are either too much or nowhere to be found. Small stressors can start to feel bigger than they should, and it can be hard to come back down once you are activated. Some people notice they snap, shut down, cry easily, or spend a lot of energy holding it together. Over time, that can make everyday life feel less manageable than it used to.

  • I go from fine to overwhelmed so fast.
  • I cannot seem to calm down once I am upset.
  • I either hold everything in or spill over.
  • I am tired of living on edge.

We pay attention to what your stress is trying to do for you.

How I work with it

I work with stress and emotional regulation by slowing things down enough to notice the pattern. That may mean looking at triggers, body cues, thoughts, and the habits that show up when feelings rise. Some people need help naming what is happening in the moment; others need help understanding why the same situations keep pushing them past their limit. I tailor the work to what feels most immediate and most useful to notice.

CBT
CBT helps us see the links between what is happening, what you tell yourself, and how you react. That can make stressful moments easier to understand in plain terms.
DBT
DBT brings attention to emotion regulation and the steps that come before a reaction gets bigger. We can use it to notice the build-up and respond with more choice.
ACT
ACT can help you make room for stress without getting pulled into fighting it all day. We stay focused on what matters even when feelings are loud.

What the first sessions look like

The first sessions focus on what stress looks like in your actual life and what sets it off. I will ask about routines, pressures, reactions, and the moments when you lose your footing, and you do not need to come in with perfect language for it.

Questions people ask

Why do I get overwhelmed so quickly?

That is something we can look at together. Often there are patterns in stress, body cues, and pressure that make overwhelm build faster than it seems like it should.

Can you help with emotional regulation skills?

Yes, that is a big part of this work. We can pay attention to what happens before, during, and after strong reactions.

What if I shut down instead of getting upset?

That matters too. Emotional regulation is not only about big reactions; it is also about when things go quiet or numb.

Do I need to know why I react this way before I start?

No. We can start by noticing the pattern as it shows up now and go from there.
